The Opportunity:
We are looking for a motivated Sr. Principal Cloud Engineer with a desire to work with our growing engineering team to build a cloud infrastructure that supports our solution. We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, who will be able to collaborate cross-functionally and be a leader in establishing our future approach. We are looking for someone who is a hands-on SME. They can architect, engineer and lead all aspects of our automated infrastructure platform. The role will focus on Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery work, engaged in creating and supporting the automation tools in Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role builds and maintains the tooling that facilitates the rapid build, test, and deploy of changes in our Cloud Delivery Platform. This tooling consists of a continuous integration controller, source control “Gitlab”, a work item management tool “Jira” as well as a host of other supporting technologies: “Terraform” “Chef”, “Ansible”, “Docker”, and integration points into “Kubernetes” and possibly others.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, architect, manage, and maintain tools to automate operational processes
• Understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation
• Manage implementing and controlling the flow of data to and from AWS
• Identifying appropriate use of AWS operational best practices
• Lead high-quality automation by conducting peer design/code reviews and developing automated test cases
• Design, manage, and maintain tools to automate operational processes
• Use AWS CodeCommit or similar and understand the array of options for enabling a Continuous Integration environment on AW
• Use AWS CodePipeline or similar to design and implement a Continuous Integration and Delivery pipeline on AWS
• Implement several common Continuous Deployment use cases using AWS technologies, including blue/green, canary deployment with automated testing gates
• Distinguish between the array of application deployment technologies available on AWS (including AWS CodeDeploy, AWS Opsworks, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Amazon EC2 Container Service, and Amazon EC2 Container Registry), and decide which technology best fits a given scenario
• Apply automated test tooling to increase the efficiency of test preparation
• Close working relationship with the development or product support to develop and building a sustainable solution for the Test Automation
• Work with Development, Test and Product Management to design and implement test automation in to build and delivery pipeline (CI CD process)
• Contribute to the building of test environment in to a continuous Integration (CI) environment and ongoing process improvement activities
• Design and deploy scalable, highly available, secure, and fault tolerant systems on AWS for the development and test lifecycle of our cloud security product.
• Focus on building Dockerized application components by integrating with AWS EKS and other AWS services.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 12 years of related experience in Cloud Engineering or related field with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
• Ability to lead effectively across organizations and engagements, preferably from a professional services organization or similar.
• Excellent hands-on software engineering experience
• Experience with designing, developing, testing and deploying solutions to the cloud using technologies such as VSTS (Azure) and CodeCommit, CodeDeploy, CodePipline (AWS).
• Experience leading test-driven development using tools like Cucumber, Selenium
• Experience with Java, J2EE, Spring, Oracle, PL/SQL, Postgress, Rest API’s, Microservices
• Project delivery experience using Agile/Scrum
• Experience with developing and deploying containers using Docker and Kubernates
• Experience building highly automated environments using virtual and cloud resources.
• Experience building continuous delivery pipeline for multiple applications
• Experience designing and developing highly available, scalable, fault-tolerant and disaster recoverable enterprise grade and web-scale software platforms and deployments
• Experience with implementing and automating security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation
• Experience with implementing and controlling the flow of data to and from AWS using EMR, Kinesis, etc. or Azure HDInsight
• Experience with designing, managing, and maintaining tools to automate operational processes
• Experience leading high-quality automation by conducting peer design/code reviews and developing automated test cases
• Hands-on experience with microservices and distributed application architecture, such as containers, Kubernetes, and/or serverless technology
• Experience with monitoring and log aggregating frameworks such as Datadog, Logstash, Splunk, ElasticSearch, and Kibana
• Strong presentation, verbal communication, and written communications skills
• Preferred experience in areas of Linux, Basic Networking, Application Development Principles, SCM Tooling, CI Tooling, Various DBMS platforms
• Eligibility to obtain a security clearance is preferred

• Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
• Travel Requirements: This position may require up to 10% travel. Frequently, travel is outside the local area and overnight.
• Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers.
• Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role. Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of 5 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.
• Colorado Only: The range provided is for Colorado-based hires only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations other than CO may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. Pay range: $142,500 - $190,000
